US, Japan sign rare earths deal as Takaichi hails ‘golden age’ in bilateral ties

Japan’s new prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, hailed US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, vowing a “golden age of ties” as they signed a deal to secure critical minerals. Takaichi, Japan’s first female leader, praised Trump’s peacemaking and will nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize, the White House said.
